The museum is one of only two museums in the country to win a national medal in 2017 for its significant and exceptional contributions to its community.
The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is, of course, best known for its internationally-acclaimed Birds in Art Exhibit – but there’s far more to this incredible museum than that. There are a range of exhibits throughout the year, not to mention various programs and events. The grounds themselves, with its beautiful sculpture park, are also magnificent and worth visiting!
The annual Birds in Art Exhibit is slated to open as usual during the first weekend after Labor Day, during the ArtRageous Weekend. This year’s event kicks off on September 9 – 10. The first Birds in Art exhibit was in 1976, and since then has grown to be one of the leading contemporary artistic displays of birds and related subjects worldwide.
